Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! I am really excited to share a (not so short) update about my life now that my exams are FINALLY OVER!!! 🥳🥳🥳 (Actually, they've been over 3 weeks ago but it felt like a week ago 😭 time passes so fasttt). In part one of my blog, I'll be writing about my exams:
While I didn't fail any subjects in the End-Of-Year-Exam (yay), I didn't do very well generally. Of course, there were some strong subjects but most of them have a lot of room for improvement. For Higher-Chinese (my entire school takes Higher-Chinese and we don't learn the standard one :/ ), I got a C 😔. I should read more Chinese books sighhh. For Math, I got C+, I honestly could have done a bit better. For History I got a B, and I'm really disappointed because I crammed a lot of information for three days straight and didn't do well.
For Geography, I got a B+, I usually get an A so I was quite unpleasantly surprised. For English I got an A (it's good but I didn't do well for the components I was most confident in and I had expected better). 😢🙁 For English Literature, I was super surprised when I say that I had obtained an A+. The English Literature exam was the day after History and as I had spent all my time studying for History, I didn't really revise for English Literature. So I'm happy with my A+. 👏 Last but not least, I'm very proud of my Science results. From the start of the year, to the end, I have been getting A+ for Science without fail. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥I actually enjoy Science a lot more now as I feel that I can understand it fully, unlike most of the other subjects. 🧬

We have arrived at part two of my blog where I'll be talking about...SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! All Secondary schools start the December Holidays a few weeks earlier than Primary schools. My December Holidays officially started on 1 November 2025. However, every holiday comes in a package that consists of homework, CCA trainings, and revision. I have homework to be completed during the holidays and submitted next year! 😩😩 And for three weeks, I have to go back to school three times a week DURING the holidays for CCA trainings. Some days, we have Choir trainings for 3 hours per day. Other days, it's six hours (with a 1.5 hour lunch break not included in the six hours where we have to go out of school to eat). Even though it's very tiring, but it's also fun to experience holiday trainings with my friends. My favourite part is getting to travel to somewhere with my friends to have lunch, before rushing back just before CCA starts ☺️☺️☺️ Because of my exam results, I realised that I was quite behind time and had to strengthen my foundation in my weaker subjects before next year, so that I can catch up with the rest of the class next year. So I have to continue revising 🥲.
BUT holidays do come with FUN and I can look forward to many exciting events happening soon! For example, I'm going out with my Primary school friends next week 😜, and I'm going overseas the week after ✈️ (I'll write a blog to document my trip when I'm back. All the details will be inside). Hehehe. I also have a lot more time now to learn new skills, and do many other things.
Right now, I'm feeling relaxed and free (I should not feel this way because I haven't finished my homework yet). My school holidays will end on 12 January 2026. Most secondary schools will start at the beginning of January, but because I'm in an IP school (that means I don't have to take O-levels and will study JC in the same school), my school follows the JC dates and we start school two weeks later than others. 🎓 This means that my holidays are actually longer and my school year is shorter, although I still learn the same amount of things other schools learn.

This is now the last part of my blog (part three) where there will be picturesss ✨✨. This will be a reflection on my entire school year generally <3
2025 has been the most fun year of my life. From the moment I stepped into my new classroom for the first time and got to see all my classmates, not knowing that I would become so close with a few of them, to the moment where we said goodbye and left the school compound on the last day of school. Every part of this journey and school year has been exciting, new, and crazy. I loved how bonded my class became, how many twists and turns there could be, and every detail of every second of this school year.
Although it wasn't the easiest year, it was definitely the year that I grew the most (mentally, not physically). I managed to step out of my comfort zone, and experience all kinds of emotions throughout all the different situations and challenges I faced. It was a special journey and looking back at how far I've come, I'm filled with a sense of nostalgia. I cannot believe how fast this year has passed. I keep wishing that time would move as slowly as it did when I was 10. At 11 years old, time began to move faster and in the blink of an eye, I'm 13 and my Sec 1 year is over.
The feeling is bittersweet, I'm grateful that I've gotten a chance to experience this, but yet I feel a bit of grief, like a part of time is gone and will never come back, I will never be able to re-live this year again. At the same time, while it's heartbreaking when we think about time, I'm reminded of how precious time is. Every second counts and matters. We need to treasure time because when it's gone, it's gone forever.
Lastly, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for always being there to support me. It has been a year since I have had braces and throughout this entire journey you never left my side. 🥹 You gave me the motivation to continue writing blogs and gave me a sense of comfort. I know that I will never be alone no matter what. 🙂
Thank you for reading the longest blog I have every written. I hope to see all of you soon! Have a great day ahead! ♥️
Best regards,
Adlyn 💖
