About a month ago, I booked an appointment at Embrace dental clinic. And today, I was back there again, this time, putting on my braces.
For the whole day, I was a little nervous and anxious about the braces. We took a bus and MRT to Orchard and walked to the international building, where the dental clinic was located at. We waited in the waiting room for about fifteen minutes before the dentist called me in. I was extremely nervous when I entered, I was mostly worried if it was going to be painful.
But everything happened very fast, suddenly, the dentist had started cleaning my teeth. Then, he glued the brackets to my teeth. By the time he asked me to gurgle my mouth, three brackets were already on! The assistant used a pen-like machine to dry the glue with UV rays. The experience wasn't the most enjoyable because of the pain and sour-salty water they sprayed. Some of the tools were sharp and concentrated. Finaly, after attaching the metal wires to the brackets, I got to choose my braces colour! One of my Amazing supporters chose pastel pink for the braces colour and I chose just that. After the braces were on, I felt different.
I felt like there was something on my teeth, my left top teeth couldn't make contact with the left bottom teeth. But yet, it wasn't uncomfortable.
The dentist gave me a lot of instructions like what not to eat, how to use the wax provided, and how to brush my teeth. He gave me a small toothbrush with soft bristles forming a round shape. He explained how to brush my teeth properly and repeated it for me.
After the braces, we went to have our dinner at Lucky Plaza. I ate shark-fin soup with rice and beansprouts. When I tried chewing the beansprouts, I couldn't! Only my front teeth could touch each other, I couldn't chew properly with only my front teeth! I ended up not eating the beansprouts and putting the rice in the soup. Then, I had to swallow everything, with the soup sort of whole! Luckily, I did not choke. It was an unforgettable experience.
Then, we went for a walk around orchard. We took some photos and returned home, but not before stopping by the Amazing Support who chose this month's colour's house! All of us were glad and I even took a picture with her!
When I got home and showered, my teeth felt uncomfortable. It was about three hours after the dentist. I really hope that I can get used to the braces faster.
I have to wear this braces for one and a half years (a short time compared to some) and I will be changing my braces colour every month. Thank you for supporting me and joining me on this journey!
Best regards,
Adlyn
